[Entertainment Celebrity News] How Bette Midler Determination Finally Made Her A Successful ...: This celebrity was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on December 1st, 1945, and she was said to be christen with the name Bette Midler following the famous Hollywood idol, Bette Davis, even though later on Midler pronounces her first name as a single syllable.  Bette was the third child from the family of four children to parents Fred and Ruth Midler. Her father Fred was working as a house painter and her mother, Ruth a housewife.  Both her older sisters, Judy and Susan were also being named after movie stars like Judy Garland and Susan Hayward.  Her younger brother Daniel however was suffering from a mental disorder.
